July 4th shooting on the Parkway: Information and resources for residents
At around 9:47 p.m. on July 4, 2022 two officers were shot on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway during the city’s Fourth of July concert and fireworks. The Parkway was evacuated. Both officers were treated and released from the hospital later that night.

Discovering World Heritage Cities - with a travel scholarship from the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC
The Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) is awarding a "Young Travelling Scholarship" for travel enthusiasts aged 18 to 28 for the third time this summer after successful editions in 2018 and 2019. The travel scholarship, endowed with 1000 euros, enables young people to get to know World Heritage cities in Europe and North America and to understand why UNESCO World Heritage is so particularly worth protecting for all of us.
Al-Bustan Summer Arabic Classes
Al-Bustan is pleased to offer remote Modern Standard Arabic courses for adults in 2022 using curricula specifically designed for our students, based on feedback from previous course cycles. Held on ZOOM, the 10-week sessions run the week of June 6th through the week of August 8th. We are offering two sections, Beginner 1 for complete novices to the Arabic language and Beginner 2 for those with novice prior engagement with the Arabic language, both taught by Instructor Noora Alrawi.
