The Global Summer Institute is a five-day K-12 teacher training organized by the National Resource Centers at University of Pennsylvania focusing on global education. The Summer Institute offers workshops by Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, trips to the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s new South Asia Gallery and the Penn Museum’s new Middle East Gallery, curriculum development activities and much more!

PHILADELPHIA WORLD HERITAGE TOOL KIT
This document is a product of a joint venture between
Global Philadelphia Association, the City of Philadelphia, and the
University of Pennsylvania’s South Asia Center, Middle East Center
and Center for East Asian Studies. The content of this document
was created by Greater Philadelphia teachers just like you! The Tool
Kit is designed for varied grades and subjects in K-12 as a vehicle
and idea-starter for teaching the value of World Heritage to our
children.
You want more? The Summer Institute is a five-day professional development program at the University of Pennsylvania to support educators in
* Understanding the increasing importance of our world regions in the K-12 classroom and
* Learning new information and tools to connect Greater Philadelphia classrooms to the world.
" Transnational Experiences: Engaging with World Heritage " will connect Greater Philadelphia, its history, and social climate, to global histories and contexts. The program features presentations by Penn faculty and area professionals, performances, film screenings, field trips, and global cuisine. Participants will work in small groups to create lessons and experiential activities for their classes. The resources created will culminate in the form of a World Heritage Tool Kit, to be unveiled during the 60-day GlobalPhilly2015 Expo.
The Summer Institute is a funded and experiential program. Qualified applicants that show particular interest in collaborative learning, leadership and world heritage themes will be selected. Selected participants who complete the program will receive a $150 stipend and Act 48 credits.
