GLOBAL PHILADELPHIA UNVEILS NEW PUBLIC MURAL AT FDR PARK, PROMOTING ACCESSIBILITY TO RELIABLE, CLEAN ENERGY SOURCES 

Nonprofit dedicated to enhancing Philadelphia’s global profile debuts a new sustainability-themed mural in association with Friends of FDR Park, Penn’s Kleinman Energy Center for Energy Policy, and Mural Arts Philadelphia.

WHAT: Global Philadelphia Association spotlights another United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) with the unveiling of a new public art mural by Eliza Nobles, a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, celebrating SDG #7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.  The mural unveiling is sponsored by Penn’s Kleinman Energy Center for Energy Policy and promotes access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.  

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action set forth by United Nations for all countries – poor, rich, and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities while tackling climate change and environmental protection.  

WHEN: Wednesday, November 9, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Remarks will begin promptly at 4 PM.

WHERE: FDR Park Boat House (FDR Park, Philadelphia, PA 19145). 

VISUALS:   The outdoor event will provide many opportunities for photography, including:

• New addition to Philadelphia’s public artwork community by artist Eliza Nobles

• Presentation of a large-scale, $3,000 grant gifted to the Friends of FDR Park
