One thing every first year law student both obsesses over and fears is the first summer internship after 1L. When I first learned of the opportunity to participate in the Philadelphia-Lyon bar exchange program and spend the summer interning in Lyon, France, I could hardly believe my luck. I would be returning to Lyon, a city southeast of Paris, known for its gastronomy and the celebration of lights, for the second time.
This time, however, not as a college graduate taking a year before law school to teach English, but as a law student charging into the unknown. My internship was with Bird & Bird LLP, an international law firm based in England.
