At age 11, Michael spent a year in Norway with his family. He attended a Norwegian school and began his immersion into Norwegian culture, mainly through the new sports introduced to him. He would not return for 16 years and through that and subsequent visits he developed an appreciation for the country, people and culture, although he is not of Norwegian descent. He is reunited with friends and gains new experiences.

We are planning a wonderful evening of African food and music, with over twenty raffle items that have been donated by Philadelphia businesses and individuals — all overlooking a fantastic view of Center City and the Delaware! Due South is the second project in a series of artistic explorations of volcanic islands. Due North (duenorth2014.com) focused on Iceland; Due South on Sicily. For the past few years, American and Italian artists have travelled individually and together to Sicily to create new works about the island, resulting in a large scale exhibition at the Delaware Contemporary.

Schools Without Borders' mission to empower girls in marginalized communities through literacy. The GIRLS! Library Project employs a public health approach to utilizing literacy as a reduction tool for social determinants of health such as poverty, education and health inequities, and gender discrimination. New printed and Braille books that meet common core standards are provided to create and maintain libraries for GIRLS! in urban and rural communities to increase early grade reading and early childhood cognitive development from birth to third grade/class three.
