On April 28th, Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) had its first in-person unveiling for Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education at St. Joseph’s University (SJU). The Wistar Institute and the University of Bologna (Unibo) in Italy have recently established the Wistar-Unibo Ph.D. Exchange Program in Cell and Molecular Biology to bring Unibo graduate students to Wistar for their three-year Ph.D. training. The program fosters scientific and intellectual exchange in research and education between Italy and the United States and is aligned with Wistar’s commitment to expand and strengthen its network of collaborations for the research and training of junior scientists in the U.S. and beyond. We spoke with Dr. Alessandro Gardini about this new program and what it means for international collaboration in Philadelphia’s health and sciences sector.

Climate change is no longer a forecast for the future. It is quickly approaching and in many places of the world, it is already here. According to the City of Philadelphia, an increase in temperatures and precipitation are the biggest impacts that Philly will see in the coming years from climate change. In response to the economic, political, and social pressure mounting due to climate change, Temple University’s Office of Sustainability and International Student Affairs paired to discuss the issue.

The West Philadelphia hospitals collectively landed at No. 61 globally and No. 16 in the United States.

Newsweek and partner Statista Inc. determined the world's top hospitals from 25 countries, relying on recommendations from various medical sources, results from patient surveys and key performance indicators.
