Throw some action into the mix with this week’s youth workshop! Preteens will spend the early afternoon learning about Menko, a uniquely Japanese card game, making their own deck, and playing against others. Menko cards typically depict popular icons of the time.

Starting back in the 17th century with samurai and ninja imagery, these cards now usually contain popular anime and manga characters, making this a great workshop for young Japanophiles. This program is $20 per child, and is designed for ages 9 to 14. Winter programming is conducted indoors at our Sakura Pavilion, about 75 yards from the Japanese House and Garden.
