According to Global Dimension, World Red Cross Day is the birthday of Red Cross founder Henry Dunant (b. 1828), the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize. 2014 marks 151 years of Red Cross’ existence. According to the American Red Cross, “World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day honors the 7 Principles of the Red Cross – Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.”
