From the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Iran Contra Affair and from the Surge to today’s frenetic geopolitical environment, the National Security Council has been embroiled in the most consequential foreign policy decisions since its inception in 1947. But few people understand the inner workings of the NSC.

In this talk about his new book, White House Warriors, author John Gans will explore the NSC’s history and its war stories to illuminate the unique role the NSC plays in the formation of American foreign policy and national security policy.

Gans was former Chief Speechwriter to Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and is currently Director of Communications and Research at UPenn’s Perry World House.
