Join Taiko instructor Mac Evans for a repertoire-learning workshop Sunday, July 9th at Philadelphia’s West Fairmount Park. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture in Philadelphia and experience the beauty of the Shofuso’s historic 17th century architecture.
The instructor, Mac Evans, has been playing in Taiko groups for over 15 years all over the east coast. He focuses on mechanics that get a good sound from the drum, and his goal is to pay homage to both the blue collar workers who play at festivals as well as the artists who have popularized taiko for its flashiness.
This event is hosted by the Japan-America Society of Greater Philadelphia and is free to all. Walk-ins are welcome, however capacity is limited to 12 people as there are only 12 instruments. No experience required!
Make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and something that is comfortable to move around in.
Make sure to check out their website for more information!
