http://mexicanculturalcenter.org/ The MCC and the Consulate of Mexico are partnering with Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest to bring an afternoon filled with cacao arts and crafts, a chef demonstration, ice skating, and of course, lots of chocolate!
The chocolate activities are FREE to the public. Ice-skating is $3 per person, and skates are $10 to rent.
Treats
The Mayans are believed to be the first to discover cacao as early as 400 AD. They grew cacao trees in their backyards and used the cacao seeds produced to make a frothy, bitter drink. Guests may enjoy a modern version of this traditional beverage in the form of Mexican Hot Chocolate served in the
Lodge.
Arts & Crafts
Cacao arts and crafts also take place in the Lodge, where children can decorate Mexican "Maria" cookies with melted cacao. To celebrate the history of chocolate, they will write on the cookies in Mayan glyphs.
Chef Demonstration
Watch as executive chef of El Rey, Dionicio Jimenez, demonstrates at-home recipes using chocolate, providing samples of his delicious chocolate flan. Demo takes place from
2-4pm in the Lodge.

El evento es GRATUITO al publico. La entrada para patinar es $3 por persona y la renta de patines es $10.
Delicias
Los Mayas descubrieron el cacao en aproximadamente 400 AD. Cultivaban arboles de cacao en sus jardines y usaban las semillas para preparar una bebida espumosa y amarga. Asistentes podrán disfrutar una versión moderna de esta bebida tradicional en forma de chocolate caliente mexicano servido en el Lounge.
Manualidades
Manualidades también se llevarán a cabo en el Lounge, donde niños podrán decorar galletas Marías con cacao derretido. Para celebrar el origen del chocolate, escribirán sobre las galletas en letras Maya.
Muestra Gastronomica
Dionicio Jimenez, chef ejecutivo de El Rey, demostrará recetas caseras con chocolate y compartirá muestras de su flan de chocolate. La muestra se llevará a cabo de 2-4 pm en el Lounge.
