The Stuttgart Hymnus Boys’ Choir is pleased to announce their concert tour of the East Coast during Pentecost 2014, June 7th - 17th. Under the musical direction of Mr. Rainer Homburg the boys will perform on this side of the Atlantic for the first time.
The tour program consists of a capella motets for choir, as well as works for choir and organ, including motets by Andreas Hammerschmidt, Heinrich Schütz, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Benjamin Britten. Of course the great master Johann Sebastian Bach (motet „Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied“) may not be missed in a classical concert tours’ program.
On June 7th the tour begins in Philadelphia, where the 50 boys and young men will be hosted by the Keystone State Boychoir (KSB). The two choirs will perform in a joint concert with the KSB Graduate choir on June 8th in Germantown. The Stuttgart boys will also perform at a service and in an evening concert at St. Paul´s Episcopal Church, Elkins Park. On June 11th the boys will perform at the Actor’s Chapel in New York near Broadway.
After a day of travel, the Stuttgart Hymnus Boys’ Choir will discover Vermont. In this State located next to Canada, the Boys’ Choir will perform in Burlington and Middlebury. Further, the boys and young men get a chance to experience the Vermont outdoors and to spend time with their host families. The last stop of the trip leads the choir to Boston, where they will give a concert at St. Ignatius Church. On June 17th the choir will return to Germany.
As the oldest and largest Boys Choir in Stuttgart the Stuttgart Hymnus Boys' Choir with its 200 members contributes valuable work in the field of musical youth education and promotion. Since its inception in 1900 boys and young men at the age of five to around 25 years are trained musically. In recent years, the Stuttgart Hymnus Boys’ Choir conducted sold-out concert tours through France, Spain, Denmark and Switzerland, as well as in Berlin, Hannover and Leipzig.
