https://www.philasd.org/ Philadelphia Educators are invited to take part in “Migration, Immigration, and Transformation,” a professional development workshop created based on a collaboration between The School District of Philadelphia, History Making Productions, and Global Philadelphia Association. The session is meant to highlight the movement of people into Philadelphia and its impact on the city’s political, economic, and social structure.
This workshop will engage educators through a variety of learning activities and exemplar assessments, as they engage with primary and secondary sources covering The Great Migration of African Americans and international immigration into Philadelphia during the early decades of the 20th century.
Participants will also benefit from a Cultural Institutions Partners Fair, which will occur during the first half hour of the evening. During the fair, participants will have the opportunity to hear from local cultural institutions, learn of their educational offerings, and consider how those institutions fit within their educational programming.
Educators not affiliated with the School District of Philadelphia can contact Amy Cohen ([email protected]) for registration information.
