1325 Sumneytown Pike
Gwynedd Valley, PA 19437

Please come out and support Gwynedd Mercy’s projects in Haiti!

Gwynedd Mercy University is leading a collaboration with Conference for Mercy Higher Education sister colleges and universities to develop an intercollegiate alliance with Mercy Focus on Haiti (MFOH) and the community of Gros Morne, Haiti. This project will include service immersion experiences, undergraduate and graduate research activities, health and social services clinical and internship opportunities for students.

The Waldron Café at Gwynedd Mercy University will be decorated in Mardi Gras theme and has a selection of New Orleans style food (yes, that's a New Orleans native calling it New Orleans style by one of our professors!). The event is being held on Tuesday, February 26th from 4-7pm. $11.79 + tax for all you can eat!

We also have a great jazz band in the dining room and a raffle of various items, such as Starbucks coffee gift basket valued over $40, Blue Coats Basketball Tickets and a swag basket (for the game on March 11 at 7 pm at the Wilmington Delaware Arena against West Chester), handmade Easter Wreath; paintings from Haiti, Emile Henry French Pottery Cooking gift basket, and Gwynedd Mercy school spirit items, etc.

What's the connection between Haiti and New Orleans? Only a huge chunk of New Orleans culture came from Haiti in 1804 with the Haitian slave revolt bringing with them many of the traditions of the  island, the French language, and some great food! These are the people who are our Creole population in New Orleans. Here is a video about the mass migration that brought 10,000 French, free people of color, and slave to the city and doubling the population of New Orleans.
