The United Nations Academic Impact and Lehigh University present: Global Citizenship in Practice, A crossroads between education, civil society, and business. This international conference seeks to bring together stakeholders from the fields of education, business and civil society to share and compare best practices in the key growing area of Global Citizenship. The goal is to help shape a common ground and a common language leading to a better, more sustainable, and more responsible world citizenship.
Hosted on the Lehigh University campus under the auspices of the United Nations’ Academic Impact Initiative, the conference will give voice to leaders in the above fields from all over the world. Through the use of distance technology, the conference will bridge domestic and international speakers, offering a diversity of perspectives that will provide conference participants with a holistic view of Global Citizenship.
Speakers include:
- Gillian Sorensen, Senior Advisor at the United Nations Foundation and former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations
- Aaron Rippenkroeger, Deputy VP of the International Rescue Committee
- Merry Merryfield, Professor of Sociology and Global Education, Ohio State University
- Dr. Okorochukwu Ezeanochie Cfine, Executive Director, Center for Public Health, Nigeria
- Vanessa de Oliveira, Professor of Global Education, University of Oulu, Finland
- William Gaudelli, Professor of Social Studies Education, Teachers College, Columbia University
