Chinatown Night Market

Thursday, October 11, 2018 - 7:00pm - 11:00pm
Race Street and 10th Street
Chinatown, Philadelphia, PA 19107
United States

Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC) will host the eighth annual Chinatown night market event on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 7 PM to 11 PM, starting at 10th and Race Street.

Drawing from the Chinese language, Yèshì 夜市 translates to “night market”. In places such as Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, night markets are known for their assortment of affordable, quick eats, and bustling activity. Chinatown’s Yè Shì is no different. By working with small business owners and other nonprofit organizations, the event celebrates Asian culture and heritage, and helps boost the local economy.

This year’s sponsors include PCDC, AARP, Green Mountain Energy, Bath Fitter, and Xfinity. All proceeds go to funding PCDC’s Main Street program.

For the last several years, Chinatown has seen over 20,000 attendees flock to the area for the over 50 unique vendors who sell food, drinks, and arts and crafts, and live musical performances from the local community. Attendees can expect to see a unique blend of both Asian and Western foods.

Yè Shì also gives guests the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts at 10th and Vine streets. Yè Shì also has two dedicated stages for local performers and artists. There will be dance performances by the Philadelphia Suns, 3x8, L8NITE, and L&M Dance Studio as well as bands including Overcoming Gravity and Dreaming Thomas. DJ Ronnie D will also be performing for the fourth year in a row.
