http://www.temple.edu/cenfad/ The final CENFAD event of the spring semester will be presented by Mike Hammer, Acting Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs from the U.S. Department of State. The program will consist of a short presentation followed by a Q&A session.
Mike Hammer is the Acting Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. Prior to this assignment, Hammer served at the White House as Special Assistant to the President, Senior Director for Press and Communications, and National Security Council Spokesman from January 2009-January 2011.
He is a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service and entered the diplomatic corps in 1988. Hammer has served abroad in Bolivia, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark, and is a recipient of the Department's Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy. He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and master's degrees from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and the National War College at the National Defense University.
