The term bateria refers to the drum sections that participate in the samba school parades during Carnaval. Bateria is a perfect orchestra, formed exclusively by percussion instruments, and is the very essence of what makes Carnaval and its music so exciting. This event, presented by the Halpern-Rogath Curatorial Seminar supported by the Department of the History of Art and the Arthur Ross Gallery, is part of the ongoing Samba Sessão Exhibition.
