Art Break with Dexter Wimberly, Curator of Derrick Adams: Sanctuary

Date:
Thursday, July 21, 2022 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location:
701 Arch St
Philadelphia, PA 19106
United States

Join Dexter Wimberly, the curator of Derrick Adams: Sanctuary, for a lunch and discussion about the exhibit Thursday, July 21st! As part of The African American Museum in Philadelphia's series called "Art Talks," this event is a great opportunity to take a deep dive into the exhibit with the curator themselves.

Based on postal worker Victor Hugo Greens guidebook for traveling Black Americans, “The Negro Motorist Green Book,” this exhibit features many different forms of media to represent safe destinations during the Jim Crow Era. From collages to sculptures, the artist depicts the challenges Black Americans faced when trying to find these safe spaces.

Make sure to register for the event in the link above!
