Sustainable Development Goal #16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Community members attended the art unveiling of a new piece of public artwork by Russell Craig celebrating SDG #16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions on June 20th at Project HOME Women of Change. This unveiling was sponsored by The Harry and Catherine Halloran Family Foundation.
This art project is the sixteenth out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and aims to achieve the goal of promoting peace, justice and strong institutions in the campaign at Global Philadelphia Association. In partnership with WAWA Welcome America, this unveiling was among the lineup of events taking place from June 19 - July 4th.
Reinforcing its commitment to peace, justice, and strong institutions, The Harry and Catherine Halloran Family Foundation simultaneously gave a grant to Project HOME to support their work in breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty and alleviating the underlying causes of poverty.

The work is a portrait of Thurgood Marshall painted by Mural Arts artist Russell Craig and it is sponsored by The Harry and Catherine Family Foundation. Russell Craig is a self-taught Philadelphia-based artist. Craig became involved in Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Restorative Justice Program and later joined the organization to paint murals in under-resourced communities. He continues to collaborate with Philadelphia Mural Arts as a muralist, teaching art to court-involved youth. Project Home is the recipient of the GPA/Harry and Catherine Halloran Family Trust Grant.
