Celebration of Drexel University's John A. Fry Appointment As Honorary Consul of South Africa for Philadelphia

On October 25, 2023, friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate the appointment of Drexel University President John A. Fry as Honorary Consul of South Africa for Philadelphia. Many Philadelphian leaders, including members of the Consular Corps Association of Philadelphia, were in attendance and recognized the significance of this appointment. GPA President, Zabeth Teelucksingh, shared that "John Fry will surely be a fine Honorary Consul to South Africa and strengthen ties between Philadelphia and that nation.” Drexel Board Member and Professor Regalio Minana added, "South Africa is a key commercial, educational, and cultural partner for Greater Philadelphia in general and Drexel University in particular. There can be no better choice than President Fry" to help strengthen these relations. Fry's new role exemplifies how leaders in the city continue to expand international connections and increase Philadelphia’s presence in the global community.
